Chapter 1: The Boy

THE BOY

Once upon a time there lived a boy who loved reading adventure books. His favourite author was Enid Blyton, and he especially loved The Secret Seven. His name was Marty and he was a skinny and tall boy with brown hair. He had the most unique eye color which was green. He lived in a small town with his parents, Lily and Steve on the outskirts of Arizona in the United States. The land of the Grand Canyon.

Unfortunately, in the summer of 2017 there was a disease spreading over Arizona and Marty’s parents decided to shift to London to avoid the disease. Marty was very sad. He loved it in Arizona. He had made many friends there.  “Please! Please! I don’t want to go to London!” begged Marty to his parents.

“It’s beautiful there!” said Lily trying to convince him.

“I have read about so many crimes in London, in the Secret Seven!” exclaimed Marty.

“We will see about that”, his mother said with a scorn.

“…and the Secret Seven stories are more about adventures, quick thinking, courage and bravery. I want you to remember that”, she added.

Marty agreed, and he couldn’t think of any other point to argue on, so he packed his bags and said goodbye to his friends in Arizona. He promised to write letters to them and email them photos from his new home.

Four days later they travelled by plane and reached New York. They stayed there for two nights and then left for London.

As they looked down on the city below, they loved view from the plane. They could see tiny gray dots coming and going, which they assumed were bottlenose dolphins. There were grey broad lines with airplanes taking off on them. “They are aircraft carriers!” said Marty to his Dad. They saw a cruise with a swimming pool, seagulls and the Hudson River as they flew out of New York.

Marty couldn't wait to watch the movies on the plane, which he had missed for at least two years. He could play games, sleep, watch more movies and eat yummy food whenever he wanted. He loved the experience on the flight.
